Comprehensive Eye Exams

A Comprehensive Eye Exam serves as the foundation of your ocular health. This general overview has three major components:

  1. Vision Assessment

  2. Binocular Vision Screening

  3. Ocular Health Evaluation

Comprehensive Eye Exams are covered biennially under Vision Care by most Health Insurance Plans. Despite this, an exam may be suggested annually based on your ocular health status.

Binocular Vision Assessments

With the visual demands placed on our eyes now greater than ever, it’s not uncommon for them to develop dysfunctions and have difficulty coordinating their efforts. This can lead to symptoms of discomfort that include:

  1. Blurred Vision

  2. Periocular Pain

  3. Referred Pain (e.g. Brow, Temples, Neck)

  4. Dry Eye

  5. Visual & General Fatigue

After a combination of assessments (i.e. focusing strength, visual alignment, range of motion etc.) help us uncover the the source of the discomfort, practical solutions (i.e. exercises, task specific glasses, nutrition etc.) are then recommended to restore visual wellbeing. The Binocular Screening performed during the Comprehensive Eye Exam will help determine whether this assessment is right for you.

Dry Eye Therapies

As mundane as "Dry Eye" sounds, left unaddressed it can lead to chronic symptoms of ocular discomfort that include:

  1. Red Eyes

  2. Ocular Irritation

  3. Burning / Stinging

  4. Ocular Pain

  5. Visual & General Fatigue

By first uncovering the cause of your symptoms (i.e. Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, Evaporation, Aqueous Deficiency, Inflammatory Dry Eye etc.) we can then provide practical, restorative solutions. (i.e. Lid Debridement, Meibomian Gland Expression, Light Therapy etc.).
